Shopify affiliate campaign brief builder

Prepare a concise working brief that gives a creator the information needed to promote your Shopify offer accurately. This builder turns campaign inputs into a draft you can review and copy. The goal is to make the audience, destination, offer, and requested content explicit before a partner spends time producing a placement or shares an incorrect promotion.

Describe one audience and one intended action

Start with the shopper problem and the product being promoted. A useful brief tells the creator who the item is for, what the customer should understand, and which store page supports the next step. Avoid a list of disconnected selling points that cannot fit into the agreed format. The more focused the objective, the easier it becomes to judge whether a draft gives the audience a clear reason to visit.

Specify the actual destination rather than asking the creator to choose a link from memory. Include a product or collection page that matches the content and confirm availability before the placement goes live. If the aim is product education rather than immediate sales, say that explicitly and choose an appropriate measure. A campaign should not be judged only on purchases when the original assignment was to explain a complex product.

Make the offer and deliverables unambiguous

Write the customer offer with its eligible products, applicable dates, and any limits the shopper needs to understand. Keep the partner’s commission arrangement separate from the public customer discount. Creators need both, but audiences generally need the offer and a clear next step. Do not promise that a discount applies to every product or combines with every promotion unless the actual store configuration supports that statement.

Describe the deliverables that were agreed, including format, placement, timing, and any review step. A generated brief is not proof that a creator accepted an assignment or granted permission to reuse content. Record fees, gifting arrangements, and content permissions through your established agreement process. Keep product statements grounded in facts you can substantiate, and leave room for the creator’s own experience rather than scripting invented testimonials.

Review the draft before it becomes a live campaign

Test the destination, coupon, and affiliate tracking path using a realistic customer journey. If you add analytics tags, confirm they preserve the required referral information. Include a contact or agreed process for questions about stock, claims, or changes to the offer. A short, accurate brief is more useful than a lengthy template with placeholder dates, broken links, or product benefits copied from another campaign.

The generated text is a planning draft, not a legal agreement or an automatic compliance review. Confirm any applicable disclosure and platform requirements through your normal process before publication. After launch, compare the actual placement with the agreed brief and record meaningful changes. Keep the final version with campaign results so later performance reviews can account for what the creator really published, not only what was initially requested.

Worked example · illustrative scenario

Worked example: a focused product demonstration

An illustrative brief asks a creator to demonstrate a reusable travel organizer for shoppers packing a weekend bag, link to the matching product page, and explain a confirmed customer offer. It specifies one agreed tutorial placement and a review date. Commission terms and reuse permissions are recorded separately; the brief does not assume a guaranteed sales outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Does generating a brief contact the creator?

No. The builder produces draft text for you to review and copy. It does not send a message, create an agreement, or publish content.

Should the brief include guaranteed sales targets?

Use explicit objectives and review measures, but do not present an assumed sales outcome as a guarantee. Creator performance depends on audience, offer, placement, and the shopping experience.

Is this a contract or a disclosure compliance check?

No. It is an operational draft. Handle agreements, permissions, and applicable disclosure requirements through your established review process.
