How this estimate works: Use your own store data before making a commercial decision. All monetary amounts are USD.
Forecast active participation, not roster size
A signed-up creator does not necessarily publish content or send qualified visitors. Enter the number you expect to be active during the chosen period, not every contact in your recruitment list. Define activity in practical terms, such as a live placement that can generate store visits. If your roster is new, treat participation as an assumption to test rather than borrowing an activation rate without evidence.
Use visits per active creator for that same period. Avoid mixing monthly visits with weekly creator counts or using social impressions as website traffic. A creator can have a large audience and send very few store visits. When creators differ greatly in reach or audience fit, model separate groups and add their results outside the worksheet instead of letting one average conceal the difference.
Connect traffic quality to conversion and basket value
The model multiplies estimated visits by an assumed visit-to-order conversion rate, then multiplies resulting orders by average merchandise order value. Use measurements whose denominator matches the worksheet: orders per visit is different from orders per unique person. Remove test activity and obvious bot traffic from the observations used to set your assumptions. A forecast cannot repair inconsistent tracking definitions.
Choose an order value that reflects the promoted products and planned discount treatment. A storewide average may be unsuitable for creators sending customers to a single lower-priced item. Conversion also depends on audience fit, landing-page clarity, availability, and purchase consideration. Use a lower-conversion scenario to show the risk of reaching interested viewers who are not ready to buy during the measurement period.
Use the scenario to plan capacity and learning
Prepare a conservative case, a central assumption set, and an upside case. Write down the source of each input: observed creator visits, recent store orders, or an unvalidated planning assumption. The sample values on this page are illustrative, not Shopify benchmarks. A scenario with fractional expected orders is a planning estimate; an actual campaign will produce whole orders and may vary substantially around that estimate.
Revenue is not contribution or cash available for payouts. After estimating demand, test the offer with the profit and budget tools, check inventory, and decide what evidence you need before recruiting more partners. Compare actual active creators, visits, conversion, and order value with the original assumptions. This decomposition helps explain a missed forecast instead of treating the final revenue number as a single unexplained failure.
Worked example · illustrative scenario
Worked example: a small active roster
Assume 8 active creators each send 150 store visits during one month. That gives 1,200 visits. An illustrative 2% visit-to-order conversion rate produces 24 expected orders; at an 85 average order value, modeled revenue is 2,040. None of these values is a benchmark or a promise of creator performance.
Frequently asked questions
Should I enter all registered affiliates?
Enter the creators expected to generate visits in the modeled period. Registered but inactive partners should not contribute traffic to the forecast.
Can I use follower count instead of visits?
No. Followers are a different stage of the audience journey. Estimate store visits from actual click or visit evidence before using the conversion calculation.
Does the forecast include profit or commission expense?
No. It estimates revenue from the entered funnel assumptions. Use a separate contribution calculation to account for product costs, discounts, commissions, and program expenses.
